ORIGINS

Originally from Marseilles, it was while studying cuisine in the catering schools of Sisteron, Grenoble and Nice that Philippe Faure-Brac discovered a passion for wines

Since then he has been in his element, learning more everyday about the history of each wine producing region, about each wine, and about the art of tasting and talking about wine.

After gaining experience in several Parisian restaurants, he decided to strike out alone in 1984. While still only 24 years old, he opened his restaurant, the Bistrot du Sommelier.

MEDIAS

From October 1992 to July 1995, he had a weekly radio spot on wines, in the programme presented by Jean Amadou and Maryse, on France’s Europe 1 station.

From September 1996 to June 1998, he presented a regular TV wine spot, in France 2’s programme “Les Beaux Matins” A spot that won the Bronze Award in the World Food Media Awards in October 1997, in Adelaide, Australia… He was the Air-France wine Consultant from 1998 to 2005.

Today Philippe Faure-Brac is as attentive as ever to his restaurant, and is a regular contributor of articles collaborates in various magazines. He is also a member of the tasting committee of the “Wines of France” magazine. He takes part weekly in an emission of radio and T.V. on BFM called “In Vino”.

BOOKS

He published seven books with the editions E/P/A Hachette Livre books:

“La Cave Idéale” (the ideal wine cellar) and “Le Livre de Cave” (the wine cellar book). “Les Vins du Siècle”, in 2000 « Bordeaux, le choix du Sommelier » , “Saveurs Complices” in 2002, « Vins & mets du Monde » in 2004, .and the last one in november 2006 «  Comment goûter un vin » won the best wine book of the wolrd in Beijing 2007.
